The Exeter Hip was originally called the Ling-Lee Hip. My late father, Dr Clive Lee, was the engineer who designed the hip in collaboration with Prof Robin Ling. To categorise Robin as the designer is incorrect. Robin presented a problem to my father who came up with the engineering design, based on the principle or the Morse taper.
